Basic, Balanced and Heavy Compression
Every level caps the frame size and target bitrate differently. Pick the trade-off that fits how you will share the clip.
Basic Compression
Longest edge up to about 1280px, higher bitrate.
The gentler option. Keeps more detail, so savings are usually smaller.
Balanced Compression
Longest edge up to about 960px, moderate bitrate.
The default. Usually the largest saving you can take without the clip looking muddy on typical screens.
Heavy Compression
Longest edge up to about 640px, low bitrate.
The smallest practical file, with visible softness. Best for quick sharing and tight size limits.
Frequently asked questions
Are my videos uploaded to a server?+
No. Lottinier Video has no backend for video processing. Your file is read by your browser, re-encoded by code running on your device, and the result is written straight back to your downloads folder.
Is Lottinier Video free?+
Yes. There is no account, no subscription and no watermark.
What is the difference between Basic, Balanced and Heavy Compression?+
They differ in maximum frame size and target bitrate. Basic keeps more detail. Balanced is the best default. Heavy is deliberately aggressive for the smallest file.
Why did my video not become much smaller?+
Short clips that are already heavily compressed, or footage that is already below the target resolution, may not shrink much. Lottinier Video reports the real result instead of inventing a saving.
Can compression reduce video quality?+
Yes. Frames are scaled and re-encoded with a lower bitrate. Basic stays closer to the original, Balanced is a compromise, and Heavy is deliberately aggressive.
Which formats are supported?+
MP4, WebM, MOV and M4V are accepted as input. Output is typically WebM using codecs your browser supports via MediaRecorder.
Does Lottinier Video work on mobile?+
Yes on capable mobile browsers, though long or high-resolution clips can be slow or hit memory limits on phones.
Are my files stored anywhere?+
No. Nothing is written to a server, a database or cloud storage. When you close or reload the tab, every trace of the video is gone.
Why can a compressed file sometimes become larger?+
Re-encoding an already efficient clip can cost more bytes than it saves. When that happens Lottinier Video shows the real increase and offers your untouched original for download instead of the larger result.
Why might compression fail in some browsers?+
Local re-encoding needs MediaRecorder and Canvas. Older browsers or restricted environments that lack those APIs cannot compress video on-device.
